Charles Brackeen was an American jazz saxophonist, born on March 13, 1940. He was married to pianist Joanne Brackeen and had four children. Initially, he played the violin and piano before focusing on the saxophone. His first album, titled Rhythm X, was recorded in 1968 but released five years later. Throughout his career, Brackeen collaborated with numerous musicians, including Ronald Shannon Jackson, Ahmed Abdullah, Charlie Haden, and Paul Motian. He passed away in 2021.
