Charles D. Michel, born on April 7, 1963, is a retired United States Coast Guard admiral who served as the 30th vice commandant. He was the first to hold the rank of admiral in this role, assuming office on August 6, 2015, and was promoted to four-star admiral on May 24, 2016. Michel was the first career judge advocate in any armed service to achieve a four-star rank. He retired from the Coast Guard on May 24, 2018, after over 33 years of service.
