Charles Edmund Horman Lazar was an American journalist and documentary filmmaker born on May 15, 1942. He was executed in Chile during the aftermath of the 1973 coup led by General Augusto Pinochet that ousted socialist president Salvador Allende. His death became the subject of the 1982 film 'Missing', directed by Costa-Gavras, in which actor John Shea portrayed Horman. In June 2014, a Chilean court ruled that U.S. authorities had played a 'key' role in Horman's death. In January 2015, two former Chilean intelligence officials were convicted for the murders of Horman and Frank Teruggi.
