Charles Frederick Kurfess was an influential American politician serving in the Ohio House of Representatives, where he also held the position of Speaker of the House. First elected in 1956 and re-elected eleven times, he later became a judge at the Wood County Court of Common Pleas. Born in 1930 in Wood County, Ohio, he earned a B.A. from Bowling Green State University and a J.D. from the Ohio State University Law School. Kurfess was involved in government under presidents Nixon and Ford, and he passed away on March 1, 2024, at the age of 94.
