Charles Hughes Cousens (1903-1964) was an Australian radio broadcaster, television presenter, and army officer. He gained fame for his work on 2GB and Channel 7 in Sydney. Cousens is infamously known for broadcasting propaganda for the Japanese army during World War II while a prisoner, leading to accusations of treason. In 1946, he became the first Australian charged under the Treason Act 1351, but the charge was dropped later that year. He claimed his broadcasts were under duress from the Japanese, which has led to ongoing debate about his actions.
