Charles Lindy Waddell was an American politician who had a notable 26-year tenure in the Virginia Senate, eventually serving as chairman of the transportation committee. Before his Senate career, he was on the Loudoun County Board of Supervisors from 1968 to 1971. After leaving the Senate, he worked as deputy transportation secretary under Governor Jim Gilmore. He was married to Jane Rankin Herring from 1998 until her death in 2017 and passed away on July 19, 2022, at the age of 90.
