Charles Odamtten Easmon, also known as C. O. Easmon or Charlie Easmon, was a pioneering Ghanaian medical doctor and academic born on 22 September 1913. He made history as the first Ghanaian to qualify as a surgeon specialist and served as the first Dean of the University of Ghana Medical School. Easmon is celebrated for performing Ghana's first successful open-heart surgery in 1964, earning him the title 'Father of Cardiac Surgery in West Africa'. He hailed from a distinguished medical lineage with diverse ancestral roots.
