Colonel Charles Robert Ray was an American officer in the US Army, who served as an assistant military attaché. He was tragically murdered on January 18, 1982, in Paris by a member of the Lebanese Armed Revolutionary Faction. The assailant, Georges Ibrahim Abdallah, shot Ray at point-blank range outside of his apartment while he was on his way to his car. This incident highlighted the dangers faced by military personnel abroad and remains a significant event in military history.
