Charles Silverstein (April 23, 1935 – January 30, 2023) was an American psychologist and author notable for his 1973 presentation to the American Psychiatric Association, which contributed to the removal of homosexuality from the classification of mental disorders. He was the founder and director of the Institute for Human Identity and Identity House in New York City, and he also published the Journal of Homosexuality. In addition to psychological publications, Silverstein wrote travel narratives.
