Charley Pride (born March 18, 1938) is an American country music singer who achieved significant success in the 1970s, becoming RCA's best-selling artist since Elvis Presley. He topped the Billboard Country charts with 39 of his songs. Pride is one of the few Black country musicians and one of only three Black members of the Grand Ole Opry. He was also a professional baseball player in the Negro Leagues. In 2010, Pride became a private investor and owner of the Texas Rangers baseball team.
