Charlie Sifford was an American professional golfer born on June 2, 1922, in Charlotte, North Carolina, and passed away on February 3, 2015, in Cleveland, Ohio. He made history as the first African American to compete on the PGA Tour and was also the first African American inducted into the World Golf Hall of Fame. In recognition of his contributions to golf, he received the Old Tom Morris Award in 2007 and was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom by President Barack Obama in 2014.
