Charlie van Gelderen was a prominent South African Trotskyist involved in the British Labour movement from the 1930s. He participated in the founding conference of the Fourth International in 1938, being the last survivor by the end of his life. In the 1940s, he was instrumental in the Revolutionary Communist Party's faction within the Labour Party and later became a leader of the International Marxist Group, contributing to its magazine, International. Following the IMG's dissolution, he moved on to the International Socialist Group.
