Chartwell Shorayi Dutiro was a Zimbabwean musician known for his mastery of the mbira and saxophone. He began playing mbira at four and later joined notable bands such as Thomas Mapfumo & the Blacks Unlimited. Based in Britain from 1994, he contributed to African music through teaching and performing. He released a solo album in 2000 and worked on various projects, including collaborations with the Serenoa String Quartet. Chartwell passed away in 2019, shortly after receiving an Honorary PhD, and left a lasting legacy in the world of music.
