Chema Fombona, born José María García Norniella in 1969 in Noreña, Asturias, was a versatile musician, teacher, and music producer. He is regarded as one of the best percussionists in the history of the Asturian music scene, participating in numerous musical projects spanning various styles, driven by passion, friendship, or professional commitment. Fombona passed away on December 16, 2015, at the Conservatorio Profesional de Oviedo, where he taught percussion. In honor of his legacy, one of the classrooms where he worked has been named after him.
