Chen Puru was a notable politician from the People's Republic of China, born in March 1918 in Boxing, Shandong. He joined the Chinese Communist Party in 1937 and rose through the ranks to become the governor of Liaoning Province in January 1980. He later served as the Minister of Railways from April 1982 to April 1985. Chen was also a member of the 11th and 12th Central Committees of the Chinese Communist Party and part of the 13th Central Advisory Committee. He passed away on December 11, 1998, in Beijing.
