Born on April 15, 1955, she achieved fame as a key player on the national team that won the 1981 FIVB World Cup and the 1982 FIVB World Championship. After retiring in 1983, she continued her career in coaching and management within the sport. Distinguished in her military career, she became the only Chinese sportsperson to attain the rank of major general. Her life was cut short by cancer when she passed away on April 1, 2013, at the age of 57.
