He publicly apologized for his creation, especially to the affected Chinese users, before he graduated. Later, he was recruited by the military to help mitigate damages from the virus but left due to psychological issues. In 2000, he was arrested following a complaint from a student whose computer was damaged. His actions contributed to Taiwan's 2003 cybercrime law.
