Chester Joseph Melanson is a Canadian politician, born on June 26, 1940, in Meteghan Centre, Nova Scotia. He served in the Nova Scotia House of Assembly from 1981 to 1984 representing the Clare electoral district as a member of the Liberal Party. A graduate of the University of New Brunswick, he was previously an athletic director. Melanson won the 1981 election by a narrow margin but lost his re-election bid in 1984. In 2008, he received the Order of La Pléiade for his contributions to the Acadian and Francophone communities.
