Chiaki Ikeda is a Japanese essayist born on March 5, 1988, in Chiba Prefecture and raised in Hokkaido. At the age of 20, on July 10, 2008, she embarked on a journey across Japan with just 10,000 yen and a guitar. Over the course of 1 year and 4 months, she hitchhiked 261 vehicles and stayed with people she met along the way, completing her journey from the north to the south of Japan. She published a book titled "Hitchhiking Girl: Traveling the Human Emotion Island!" in February 2011 through Tokuma Shoten.
