Çingiz Mammadov was an Azerbaijani and Soviet military officer, holding the rank of lieutenant general. Born in Baku on February 15, 1951, he graduated from the Rostov Military School in 1973. Mammadov had a distinguished military career, serving in various commanding roles within the Soviet and later Azerbaijani armed forces. He contributed significantly during the first Nagorno-Karabakh War and was appointed as Deputy Minister of Defense, achieving the rank of general-lieutenant in 2005. He retired in 2014 and passed away on August 9, 2020.
