Edward Christer van der Kwast, born on June 3, 1944, in Stockholm, is a retired Swedish lawyer and former chief prosecutor. In the early 1990s, he served as the regional prosecutor in Härnösand, where he prosecuted Thomas Quick for eight murders, all of which were later overturned. Van der Kwast faced public criticism for allegedly withholding evidence that could exonerate Quick. As chief prosecutor, he led investigations into economic crime, notably the Skandia case, which resulted in prison sentences for financial misconduct. He published a book in 2015 defending his actions.
