She participated in the 1956 Melbourne Summer Olympics, finishing eighth in the 100 meters butterfly and later did not advance in the same event at the Rome Olympics. Notable achievements include a bronze medal at the 1958 European Championships and winning both gold and bronze medals at the 1958 British Empire and Commonwealth Games. In 1957, she won the ASA National Championships in the 220 yards breaststroke and 110 yards butterfly.
