Christine Walevska is an American classical cellist born in Los Angeles on March 8, 1945. She is renowned for her numerous recordings with Philips Records and her global performances. In 1975, Walevska made history as the first concert musician to perform in Cuba under Fidel Castro's regime. Music critic Antonio Hernandez from the Brazilian newspaper O Globo referred to her as the "goddess of the cello," a nickname that has followed her throughout her career.
