Christopher Vere Awdry, born on July 2, 1940, is an English author renowned for his work on The Railway Series of books, which features Thomas the Tank Engine, initiated by his father, Wilbert Awdry. In addition to the Railway Series, he has authored various children's books inspired by different railways and has written non-fiction articles and books related to heritage railways. Christopher was born in Devizes and later moved to Kings Norton, Birmingham, at five months old. He received his education at Worksop College in North Nottinghamshire.
