Christopher Thomas James Chessun is a British Anglican bishop born on August 5, 1956, in London. He has served as the Bishop of Southwark since January 2011, overseeing the Diocese of Southwark in the Church of England. Chessun studied at University College, Oxford, and was ordained in 1984. He became Bishop of Woolwich in 2005 before succeeding Bishop Tom Butler as Bishop of Southwark in 2011. Controversy arose in 2012 over his appointments of liberal-catholic priests. He was made a spiritual lord in the House of Lords in November 2014.
