Christopher Howell is an American poet, editor, and educator born on August 29, 1945, in Portland, Oregon. He has authored nine poetry books and is the director and principal editor of Lynx House Press, which awards the Blue Lynx Prize for Poetry. Howell also edited Willow Springs Books and has been a faculty member in Creative Writing at Eastern Washington University. He earned a B.S. in 1968, an M.A. in 1971, and an MFA in 1973. His daughter, Emma Howell, was a poet who passed away in 2001.
