Christopher James Austin Jones, known as Chris Jones, is a British chess player and composer born on April 6, 1952, in Newport-on-Tay. In 2012, he became the third British composer to obtain the title of Grandmaster of Composition from the WFCC, having created over 800 chess problems, primarily helpmates. Jones studied at Oxford, where he captained the university chess team and contributed to local chess organizations. He served as president of the British Chess Problem Society and was actively involved in chess problem publishing, receiving various awards for his work.
