Christopher Voelker was an American photographer born on February 2, 1961, in Los Angeles, California. He was a wheelchair user due to a spinal cord injury from a motocross accident at 16. Predominantly self-taught, he specialized in large-format black and white photography. Voelker became the first photographer with a mobility impairment to work professionally for major studios and TV networks. His work was celebrated through numerous exhibitions, publications, and awards. His photographic focus celebrated human experiences, particularly within the disability community.
