Christopher Wheeldon is an English ballet dancer and choreographer born on March 22, 1973, in Yeovil, Somerset, England. He joined the Royal Ballet in 1991 before moving to the New York City Ballet in 1993, where he quickly rose to soloist. Wheeldon became a sought-after choreographer, working with various companies like the San Francisco Ballet and Colorado Ballet. He co-founded Morphoses/The Wheeldon Company in 2007. In 2012, he was elected to the American Academy of Arts and Sciences and has been in a partnership with yoga instructor Ross Rayburn since 2013.
