Bishop Christophoros, born George Rakintzakis on May 1, 1931, in Athens, Greece, was a prominent figure in the Greek Orthodox Church and served as the first Vicar-Bishop of the Greek Orthodox Metropolis of Toronto from 1999 until 2017. He was also the titular Bishop of Andida and served as Dean of the Toronto Orthodox Theological Academy from 1997 to 2006. Rakintzakis was affiliated with the historic Hosios Loukas monastery in Boeotia, Greece, and retired in 2017, spending his later years in Greece until his death on February 14, 2020.
