Chūkō Ono (February 2, 1908 - June 25, 1990) was a Japanese children's literature writer and poet. He was born in Shirasawa Village, which is now part of Numata City, Gunma Prefecture. His real name was Tadayoshi Ono. He graduated from Numata Junior High School and then attended Gunma Normal School, now part of Gunma University Faculty of Education. He was honored as an honorary citizen of Shirasawa Village.
