Citation was a prominent US racehorse born on April 11, 1945, at Calumet Farm in Lexington, Kentucky. He was a remarkable competitor, winning eight out of nine races as a two-year-old and becoming the first horse to earn over a million dollars. Citation won the Triple Crown in 1948 and was named Horse of the Year. After a brief struggle with injuries, he retired in 1951 as one of the greatest racehorses. Inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1956, Citation is remembered for his immense contributions to horse racing.
