Clara Leach Adams-Ender, born on July 11, 1939, is a retired United States Army officer who served as Chief of the Army Nurse Corps from 1987 to 1991. She made history as the first woman to earn a master's degree in military arts and sciences from the Army Command and General Staff College and was the first African-American nurse corps officer to graduate from the Army War College. Upon her retirement in 1993, she was the commanding officer at Fort Belvoir, Virginia. In 2001, she published her memoir titled 'My Rise to the Stars: How a Sharecropper's Daughter Became an Army General.'
