Claude Van Marcke was a Belgian politician from the Open VLD party, serving as mayor of Anzegem at the time of his death. He led a law firm since 1993 and was a member of the Anzegem municipal council starting in 1995. He served as an alderman from 2001 to 2012 and became mayor after forming a coalition with several parties. He was also a provincial council member from 1995 to 2000. Van Marcke died unexpectedly in September 2017 following a routine operation for heart rhythm disorders.
