Cleve Moler is a mathematician and computer programmer known for his contributions to numerical analysis. He co-authored LINPACK and EISPACK in the 1970s, libraries for numerical computations in Fortran. He is the creator of MATLAB, developed to help students at the University of New Mexico access these libraries easily. In 1984, he co-founded MathWorks with Jack Little to commercialize MATLAB. He holds a bachelor's degree from Caltech and a Ph.D. from Stanford, has taught at Michigan, Stanford, and New Mexico, and has authored three books on numerical methods.
