From 2010 to 2015, he held the position of justice at the Supreme Court of the Netherlands. Prior to that, he was a partner at the Amsterdam law firm Kennedy Van der Laan from 1992 to 2010. Since 2015, he has returned to practicing law, working at the Amsterdam office of the American firm Jones Day.
