Comer Lane Cox was an American outfielder in the Negro leagues, playing in 1930 and 1931 for the Nashville Elite Giants and Cleveland Cubs. He was born on May 9, 1905, in Athens, Alabama, and later attended Sumner High School and Fisk University. After his brief baseball career, he became the director of the Springfield Urban League in Illinois. He passed away in Springfield in August 1971 at the age of 66, and in 1976, a park was named in his honor.
