Constantin Zureiq (April 5, 1909 – August 12, 2000) was a Syrian historian and thinker from Damascus, recognized as one of the most prominent advocates of Arab nationalism in modern times. He served as the Syrian minister plenipotentiary to the United States in 1946 and was a founding member of Syria's delegation to the United Nations. Zureiq became president of the University of Damascus in 1949 and later served as acting president of the American University of Beirut until 1957. He was also an influential professor and the innovator of the term 'Nakba' to describe the displacement of Palestinians in 1948.
