Cory Richards is an American climber and photographer, born in 1981 in Boulder, Colorado. He was introduced to climbing by a neighbor at the age of five. In 2011, he became the first American to summit an 8000-meter peak in winter, achieving this on the Gasherbrum II expedition alongside climbers Simone Moro and Denis Urubko. This notable ascent marked the first successful winter climb of an 8000-meter peak in Pakistan.
