Ephraim Cups Nkanuka (January 9, 1931 – August 2012) was a South African jazz musician known for his tenor saxophone skills, as well as piano and composition. Revered as the 'Godfather of jazz' in Cape Town, Nkanuka was a pioneer of jazz in the Western Cape. He initially started as a jazz singer, later formed the Jazz Ambassadors, and won an award as South Africa's best tenor saxophonist in 1962. After a hiatus due to apartheid restrictions, he returned to public performances in the late 1990s.
