Curtis T. McMullen is an American mathematician born on May 21, 1958. He is a mathematics professor at Harvard University and was awarded the Fields Medal in 1998 for his contributions to complex dynamics, hyperbolic geometry, and Teichmüller theory. McMullen graduated from Williams College in 1980 and earned his Ph.D. from Harvard University in 1985 under the supervision of Dennis Sullivan. He has held faculty positions at Princeton University and UC Berkeley before joining Harvard in 1997. Additionally, he received the Salem Prize in 1991 and was elected to the National Academy of Sciences in 2007.
