Curtis Yarvin, born in 1973 and also known by his pen name Mencius Moldbug, is an American computer scientist and philosophical blogger. He is a co-founder of the Dark Enlightenment or neo-reactionary movement with philosopher Nick Land. Through his blog Unqualified Reservations (2007-2014) and later Substack page Grey Mirror (2020), Yarvin argues that American democracy is a failed experiment that should be replaced by an accountable monarchy. He has been described as a neo-reactionary advocating for a techno-monarchy as an alternative to democracy.
