Jeffrey Prothero, known as Cynbe ru Taren, was a Canadian-born American computer programmer who made significant contributions to the field of software development. He created Citadel, considered to be the first virtual world system, and worked on numerous other projects including the Digital Anatomist software for the Visible Human Project. Additionally, he developed the original Pascal Star Trek game program and the first Loglan parsers. Cynbe ru Taren's screenname is derived from a character in Poul Anderson's science fiction novel The Star Fox. He passed away on November 16, 2016.
