A professor at the University of Utah since 1995, she specializes in nucleic acid chemistry, particularly RNA interference and DNA damage. Burrows has developed methods for identifying DNA and RNA damage using nanopore technology. She is a fellow of prestigious scientific organizations and has received numerous awards for her contributions to chemistry and women's achievements in science.
