Denis Joseph Carey, born on November 11, 1970, is a retired Irish hurler who played as a left wing-forward for the Kilkenny senior team. He began his career with Young Irelands, achieving success in club championships, and won several All-Ireland titles with Kilkenny, including five during his inter-county career. Carey, known as 'GAA's first superstar', earned numerous accolades, including nine All-Star awards and Texaco Hurler of the Year honors. After retiring, he transitioned into coaching and management at Young Irelands and Carlow Institute of Technology.
