Daniel John Durkin, born on January 15, 1978, is an American football coach currently serving as the defensive coordinator for the Auburn Tigers. He previously held the position of head coach for the University of Maryland football team from 2015 until 2018. Durkin faced significant controversy following the death of player Jordan McNair, leading to his placement on leave. Despite being reinstated by the University System of Maryland Board of Regents, he was fired the following day by the university president.
