Donald Jason Cothern is a major general in the United States Space Force serving as the program executive for ground-based weapon systems at the Missile Defense Agency. He has held various significant roles previously, including deputy commander of the Space Systems Command and assistant program director for development at the F-35 Lighting II Joint Program Office. He was commissioned in 1993 and notably directed the DoD's first SpaceX Falcon 9 launch in 2015. He was nominated for promotion to major general in July 2023.
