Dagon Taya, born Htay Myaing on 10 May 1919, was a prominent Myanmar writer known for his contribution to literature and activism. He was an influential figure during Myanmar's independence struggle and played a significant role as a student leader. Taya published the Taya (Star) Magazine and edited various other literary magazines. He authored numerous notable works, including 'Sabe Oo,' which won the Sarpay Beikman Literary Award. After being detained for three years post-coup in 1962, he continued to advocate for democracy, receiving the Manhae Peace Prize shortly before his death on 19 August 2013.
