He had a 46-year broadcasting career that included roles in Iowa and Minnesota, and he also served as an announcer and classical music DJ at KVNO radio. Notably, he experienced the aftermath of the Omaha tornado and survived a violent attack in the station's lobby. Munson received various accolades, including a lifetime achievement award and continued to participate in public events until his death in 2012.
