Archimandrite Damaskin (born Vladimir Alexandrovich Orlovsky) is a Soviet and Russian church historian and hagiographer, born on December 26, 1949, in Moscow. He holds a doctorate in historical sciences (2017) and serves as a clergyman in the Russian Orthodox Church. Damaskin is known for his extensive research on the new martyrs and confessors of the Russian Church, compiling biographies of approximately one thousand repressed clergy. His work has influenced the field of hagiography significantly at the turn of the 20th to the 21st century.
